NW Next, the alumni group for Puget Sound Business Journal “40 Under 40” honorees, is comprised of a broad range of successful, visionary, diverse and socially responsible leaders in the Greater Seattle area. As President of the board, Alston will focus on increasing engagement by other 40 Under 40 alumni and connecting the organization with other like-minded groups in the region to promote business and philanthropy. “NW Next is a very unique group of leaders in our region who want to not only see business succeed in our city, but also have a desire to give back,” said Alston. “I think we’ve just scratched the surface on what we can accomplish together and I’m ready to bring influential individuals together to provide more opportunities for city and more connections for our alumni.” Founded in 2003, NW Next is comprised of local leaders who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and social responsibility across all types of industries, companies and personal backgrounds. The organization provides ongoing opportunities for 40 Under 40 alumni to engage with their colleagues and support the Puget Sound community. Alston was first elected to the board of NW Next in December 2009 for a two-year term, serving as Vice President from 2009-2011. In 2009, he was selected as one of the top 40 Under 40 leaders by the Puget Sound Business Journal in recognition of his leadership approach which has sparked Revel’s record growth as well as his dedication to charitable organizations in the region. Alston helped found Revel’s unique Sustainable Giving program in which the firm supports area non-profit organizations by going beyond traditional monetary donations and providing consulting services that help ensure non-profits can sustain their cause over the long run. Along with his involvement with NW Next, Alston also sits on the board for the region’s premier junior cycling team Revel-Rad Racing and the Foster 5K, a charity race to raise money for foster children. He also works with other eastside business leaders addressing local economic development opportunities and issues as a member of the Kirkland Business Roundtable.
