Revel Consulting Donates Time and Expertise to Help Local Foster Kids

August 16, 2010

Firm’s consulting services help streamline annual 5K race fundraiser as part of unique approach to corporate citizenship

KIRKLAND, Wash. (August 16, 2010) – Building on last year’s successful partnership, Revel Consulting, a Kirkland, Washington-based business management consulting firm, again provided the organizers of the Foster Kids 5K, an annual charity 5K race, with financial support and pro bono consulting services aimed at increasing the efficiency of the non-profit partner. Leading up to this year’s August 14th race at Redmond’s Marymoor Park, Revel consultants offered the race organizers their services with a focus on overall event planning, event marketing, budgeting and the development of fund raising strategies. More than 230 people participated in the race, raising more than $7,500 for the Royal Family Kids’ Camps, which will send many more kids to the one-week overnight summer camp for foster children.

“While we’re seeing some economic recovery this year, corporate donations are still down making it more important than ever for organizations like Foster Kids 5K to find alternative ways to carry on their cause,” said Brett Alston, Revel Managing Director. “Not only does this partnership support our corporate philosophy of local community involvement, but our consultants really loved this project and lined up to help out.”

Revel’s work with the Foster Kids 5K comes as part of the company’s Sustainable Giving program, aimed at supporting local non-profit organizations by going beyond traditional monetary donations and providing consulting services that develop additional fundraising streams and self-reliance with their partners.

“Revel’s talented, passionate consultants showed us simple, effective strategies that have saved us time and money,” said Adrienne Oliphant, Foster Kids 5K Co-Race Director. “We could see they took this opportunity seriously, applying their best business practices to our model, ensuring we succeed now and in the future. Thanks to Revel more foster children will get a chance to have a life changing week at summer camp.”

In addition to its work with Foster Kids 5K, Revel’s Sustainable Giving program has also forged a partnership with another local non-profit Treehouse, a Seattle-based community non-profit dedicated to providing services for foster children. Through months of work with Treehouse, Revel help the organization strengthen its social media presence and more effectively engage with its donors.

“Keeping our consultants local, working with local clients, and partnering with local non-profit partners is really at the core of our approach,” said Alston. “Our PURE Consulting model sets us apart in our industry to clients, and we’re seeing our team really put their full energy behind these types of projects.”
